Box: Access

Your students need an account license only if they will be collaborating on Box. If they are downloading and uploading only, they don’t need Box Licenses. Review below and see which option works.

OPTION 1: Read Only and Upload Only Folders – students do NOT need licenses

How to set a folder to VIEW and DOWNLOAD only, share a PUBLIC LINK.

Select folder and Click ‘Share’

Enable ‘Share link’, set to ‘People with link’, copy URL and send URL to users.

How to set a folder to UPLOAD only (assignments for example), share an UPLOAD/FILE REQUEST link.

Select folder and click ‘File Request’

OPTION 2: Collaboration Folders – Students NEED licenses

How to set Folders for collaboration (license needed.)

1. Send mactech@mmm.edu a list of students to assign a Box License

2. Select folder, click ‘Share’ and INVITE them to the folder for collaborating
