How to open a shared mailbox in Outlook
Delegate/shared mailboxes can be opened on the Outlook website or in the Outlook Desktop app.
To open a shared mailbox on the Outlook website:
Note: Opening a shared mailbox on the website will need to be done with each log in to access the shared mailbox.
Step 1: Navigate to Outlook.
Step 2: Navigate your profile icon in the top right of the Outlook webpage and click for more options.
Step 3: Select open another mailbox and type the name of the delegate account you are trying to open.
Step 4: Select open. The shared mailbox will open in a new tab so both accounts are accessible via switching tabs.
To open a shared mailbox on the Outlook Desktop app:
Note: Opening a shared mailbox on the desktop app is a one time process and will add to your email list on the left column for future use.
Step 1: Open the Outlook app and navigate to the Settings.
Step 2: Select Accounts, then Delegates and Sharing.
Step 3: Select Shared with Me, click the plus button to add the name of the delegate account.
Step 4: Click add. The mailbox will now show up in the left hand column of email accounts in the main mail window. Use the arrow next to the email to open the drop down of inbox and other folders, as seen in the first photo.
